How to Ship an Airbag Module Safely in Canada and the US

What to send

Send the module only. Leave the harness, brackets and mounting hardware on the vehicle unless we specifically ask for them. Fewer loose parts in the box means fewer things to shift around and press on the connectors.

• The airbag or SRS control module itself
• A printed note with your name, phone number and the vehicle VIN
• A prepaid return label if you want to control the return carrier

How to pack it

Static is the quiet killer. Automotive control modules use surface mount memory chips that do not tolerate a discharge through the connector pins.

• Slide the module into an antistatic bag, or wrap it in aluminium foil if you do not have one
• Add at least five centimetres of bubble wrap or foam on every side
• Use a rigid box, not a padded envelope
• Fill the voids so nothing moves when you shake the box
• Tape the note to the inside of the lid so it cannot be lost

Carriers and transit times

From within Canada, Canada Post, Purolator, UPS and FedEx all deliver to our Brampton shop in roughly one to three business days. From the US, USPS, UPS and FedEx typically take three to six business days including the border crossing.

Always buy tracking. Declare the module as a used automotive electronic control unit with its real value so the shipment clears without questions.

What happens once it arrives

We log the module against your order the day it lands, complete the work in about 72 hours after receipt, and ship it back with a tracking number emailed to you the same day it leaves the shop.
